We value our prolonged success, and to ensure its continuity we must match it with a long-term commitment to environmental sustainability. We remain committed, within our financial constraints, to carrying our share of this responsibility. Therefore, Verger Delporte is committed to conducting its business in a manner that most effectively minimizes its environmental impact. We aim to successfully integrate global environmental concerns into our business plan. Verger Delporte participates in environmental management not simply to fulfil our legal obligations but due to the realization that sustainability is fundamental to good business.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY
LEGISLATIVE COMPLIANCE AND INDUSTRY STANDARDS
Verger Delporte complies with the requirements of relevant environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines. The company also complies with industrial standards and good practices. In the absence of both government and industry standards, Verger Delporte takes all reasonable steps to avoid harm and / or damage to the environment and personnel.
ENERGY USE AND TRANSPORT
Energy Use and Renewable Energy
- Verger Delporte aims to minimize energy consumption from the design stage through to the manufacturing/execution of its products/services and their final delivery destinations.
- We adopt a positive policy of energy reduction – this involves actively and continuously seeking methods to reduce our energy consumption.
- We utilize sustainable manufacturing/execution practices in-house and we seek to ensure that this same principle extends throughout our supply chain.
- The company seeks to use power from renewable energy sources.

- Verger Delporte seeks to reduce its carbon footprint by limiting the number of programmed scheduled supply runs.

WATER
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste
- Verger Delporte utilize non-polluting technologies wherever possible in its production.
- Verger Delporte aims to incorporate minimal energy and materials consumption in the design and manufacturing / execution of its products / services, as well as in the many processes necessarily required in their production.
- We adopt a positive policy of waste reduction – this involves actively seeking methods whereby less material is used and less material wastage incurred. (Please refer to our Waste Reduction and Purchasing Policy).
- Verger Delporte ensure that all scrap metal, whether base or precious, is recycled by a certified scrap merchant / environment service provider.
- Verger Delporte reuse existing packaging wherever possible for internal deliveries.
- Verger Delporte ensure that all paper and cardboard waste is separated forcollection by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) / Environmental Service Provider.
Avoiding Waste
Avoiding waste means cutting down on the quantity of waste being created. The simplest and most cost-effective way to avoid generating waste is to avoid unnecessary consumption of a product in the first place.
- The company observes reduction principles at the planning stage in order to helpavoid the generation of waste.
- Making design projects using the least possible material within building codes /statutory requirements.
- Preference of products that are more durable, more compact and able to be
maintained or repaired if they fail. - Buying goods with less packaging.
Hazardous Waste and Electrical Waste
- The company ensure that all Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is separated and disposed through a certified WEEE contractor.
- The company makes every effort to reduce the amount of Hazardous waste it may produce, and where it is produced it is properly contained and disposed of (Please refer to our Waste Reduction and Purchasing Policy).

Training and Development
Verger Delporte is committed to ensuring all employees receive regular training regarding their role in the management of environmental, socio-cultural, health and safety practices.
We will demonstrate this commitment by:
- Environmental Induction Training. Ensuring all employees receive training on environmental and sustainability initiatives within the company and how they can contribute to achieving these objectives. Verger Delporte aims to ensure thatemployees are completely familiar with our environmental policy (as part of our QHSE Policy), waste management procedures, energy and water saving initiatives and sociocultural initiatives.
- Supporting the local community by taking part and/or championing environmental education and/or action, whenever appropriate.
- Ensuring that sufficient amount of employees (as required by law) to be fully trained and assessed on a regular basis on fire and life safety, emergency response and the management of risk within the business relevant to their role.
- Ensuring that all documented information related to sustainability issues are available in the Paper Integrated Management System (PIMS) and that this facility is reviewed and updated regularly.
- Ensuring to organize health awareness events periodically involving full health checks (i.e. Free Medical Camps, Blood Donation Activity) for employees in the company.

Health and Safety
- In Verger Delporte health and safety is a primary concern. The risks inherent incontracting and manufacturing as an industry ensure this. Recruitment
- Verger Delporte aims to train within the company to try and preserve and maintainour unique skills that are handed down through each generation.
- Verger Delporte is accepting young talent onto its apprenticeship program from a range of schools where the individuals concerned show an interest and passion in being trained and taught by one of our experienced and skilled employees.
PROGRESS MONITORING
Energy Use
A number of measures have been taken to manage and where possible reduce our
energy use;
- Progressive introduction of low power consumption lighting across Verger Delporte’s offices, factories and accommodation are underway.
- Installation of occupancy sensors (to reduce lighting cost) especially in the accommodation where employees move in and out of their rooms during the night.
- To regulate / control the heating and cooling of AC units during winter and summer.
Transport and Company Fleet
Verger Delporte has a large no. of vehicle under its fleet, from company own vehicles to rented vehicles to address the day to day requirements of its operation. In this accordance, a number of measures have been taken to manage and where possible reduce our fuel use;.
- Planning Route / Combining Deliveries, where possible.
- Enhancing vehicle servicing and maintenance
- Controlling excessive loads and transports
- Monitoring of Vehicle turn-over (as per age and performance)
- Analyzing Vehicle Fuel Consumption
Water
Verger Delporte has adopted a number of measures to decrease the consumption of water as per the requirement of the company’s activities and no. of people.
- Water being used for hand washing and bathing in the head office accommodation is being recycled through the water treatment plant.
- Installed water saving devices and automatic taps to control unnecessary water flow.
- Regular and proper maintenance of pipelines to immediately address leakages.
- Conducted regular training to educate employees on the importance of water conservation and how their cooperation impacts its results.
Waste Management
- Partnering with Emirates Environmental Group and Abu Dhabi’s Tadweer approved Environmental Service Providers to ensure responsible disposal and/or recycling of the company’s wastes.
- Examining the wastes being generated and adopts responsible management practices that are aimed to reduce the quantity of wastes disposed. To do this, the company has adapted strategies for waste avoidance, re-use and recycling (Please refer to our Waste Reduction and Purchasing Policy).
- Participating in the yearly “UAE Clean Up Drive” in coordination with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) where Verger Delporte is a member company.
- Partaking in EEG organized “Tree Planting” activity as a result of Verger Delporte’s active participation in the yearly environmental recycling initiatives (Paper and Toner Recycling).
